What should I get my mum for Christmas?
I want to get her a few things. Her interests are Gardening, Photography, Books and Music and Art. She has a passion for scarves, and she loves jewellery and Beauty products such as soaps, bath salts, body lotion etc.
Price limit for more than one present: $70 – $100 AUD
Her favourite shops are Borders and Lush.

Out of Umbrella’s, Soft Boxes, & Beauty Dishes, which do you think is more important or more useful for portrait and promo photography?
Any details would be wonderful.
Oh, and could anybody recommend lighting brands/products that are not cheap but generally affordable?

Soft boxes by far. a combination of flat fronted and recessed soft boxes. There is a product called the Halo but I don’t know if it is still on the market but it reproduces extremely soft light but as if it is a bare bulb. All items made by Westcott. Check out my mentor’s website the late Monte Zucker. Although he used the mini Appollos , I have had an easier time lighting the face and products using the 24 inch recessed soft box as a main light and the flat front as a fill.
